Why We Built Pulse

Pulse Team
Pulse didn't start as a business plan or a pitch deck. It started with a feeling — that hollow ache of being surrounded by millions of people and feeling completely alone. I moved to a new city at 26, fresh off a breakup, knowing exactly zero people. I had a great apartment, a good job, and absolutely no one to call on a Friday night.
I tried everything. Bumble BFF felt like dating but worse. Meetup groups were either too large or too niche. Reddit threads about making friends in a new city all said the same thing: 'join a club.' But what club? Where? How do you even start?
The Spark
The idea for Pulse came during a solo hike. I passed a group of friends laughing on the trail and thought: what if there was an app that made joining a group like that as easy as signing up for a hike? Not networking. Not dating. Just... doing stuff with cool people.
From Idea to Movement
We launched with five adventures in one city. Today, Pulse operates in dozens of cities with thousands of members who've formed genuine friendships. The numbers are gratifying, but what keeps us going are the stories — the member who found a best friend at a pottery class, the crew that now travels together, the person who told us Pulse saved their life during a period of deep isolation.
What's Next
We're just getting started. Every city has people who are one adventure away from finding their crew. Our job is to make that adventure as easy to find as possible.
